Wow! The biggest turnout that I've witnessed at a Precious Metal event, and all for a band I'd never heard of! Props to Gates Of Slumber, but next time, please send me the memo. Demiricous were pretty damn good themselves throughout their 30-minute set of speedy thrash. Indiana, represent! Local acts L.A. Cross and Batillus were also in the basement.

Pretty decent turnout tonite as the crowd patiently waited for Gates Of Slumber...
Aside from Darkthrone, Carpathian Forest, Sigh, Mayhem and a few others, I'd never been a huge fan of black metal, but always appreciated its raw fury, penchant for controversy and unyielding individualism (until it became trendy, that is). Fortunately, both Misanthropy Legion (cool name) and Philly's Woe brought an old-school vibe to the basement this evening that had me blasting Beherit's 'The Oath of Black Blood' and Blasphemy's 'Fallen Angel of Doom' when I got home, much to my neighbor's displeasure. Evil is alive.

After Precious Metal, we headed across the street to Sin Sin/Leopard Lounge, a hotspot for dnb DJs. After listening to a little house music downstairs as part of the weekly 'Slap and Tickle' party, we headed upstairs and found the real treat...freestyle rappers! The last kid looked like a total mamma's boy, but he was the best of them all. Plus, he was wearing a Jello Biafra t-shirt, so bonus points for him.
A real treat this evening with an all death metal lineup in the rancid-smelling basement of Lit Lounge, highlighted by the gore-grinding, Disgorge-worship (or self-describled 'Unoriginal Death/Grind Poop') of Corpremesis. Binary Code and purveyors of death scum, Hooker Dragger,were also on the bill.
