Precious Metal: Lethal Strike + Ex Dementia + Savage Skull @ Lit Lounge 030909

Tonite's Precious Metal party was definitely a goodie with some very promising local talent on hand.  Savage Skull, part of the this whole new thrash revival movement, started it off with a super speed metal attack...think of Beherit on meth minus the raspy vocals.  They had the entire place headbangin for most of their set, and I definitely remember hearing 'Beast of Darkness'. Next up was Ex Dementia, a horror-metal band, complete with a bucket of blood and other gore movie props.  Fans of Dead/Impetigo/Ghoul/Crypticus/BloodFreak should watch out for this three-piece, who would seem like a natural fit for the Razorback Records roster.  NJ's Lethal Strike rounded out the evening's bill, and they totally ripped it.  First off, these guys are young...I'm talking the guitar player still has braces, and none of them look like they shave.  The fact that they can compose such good material shows a ton of promise, because the music is like whoa...total Bay Area thrash with great shredding and catchy beats. Their set, which included 'Toxic Terror' and 'Mass Hysteria', sounded atypically clear and tight in the basement, so props to Ryan who was working the sound.

I also had the opportunity to quickly chat with 'Bass Goddess' Greta Brinkman, who was visiting from Virginia and doing a little blogging on the underground metal scene herself. She's played with L7, Lunachicks, Pigface and Moby, among others, so check out her site.
