Precious Metal: Siezure Crypt + Landmine Marathon + Villains + Wizardry @ Lit Lounge 041309

Lots of underground buzz surrounding Landmine Marathon, and they totally lived up to the hype!  With unparalled ferocity, the band unleashed a solid half-hour of 'desert-baked' grind.  I've caught a number of bands fronted by women, including Fuck The Facts, Skarp and Estuary, and I've gotta say that Grace combines the best of all of them, with some serious energy and great chops, not to mention that she's cutie to boot.  Wizardry opened and were a pleasant surprise, mixing black metal theatrics with Iron Maiden-type songs...the crowd was loving them and I expect to hear more from these promising locals.  Siezure Crypt sounded (and looked) like the soundtrack of a WWF pay-per-view as performed by Agnostic Front.  Solid thrash/punk crossover.  After several failed attempts, I finally caught the Villains, the vile, ugly, hateful face of New York black metal.  Between songs, the lead singer threw beer on the crowd and attemped to win us over with good-natured and warm comments like '...we don't need friends, we want enemies', '...[we have] no blogs, no myspace', and '...I hope you all get AIDS'.  Nice.  They desecrated the basement with some of my favs, including 'Before the Spike', 'Torture is Too Kind', 'Headless Excruciator', 'Scumbag Preacher', 'Lifecode of Decadence', 'Dog Burner', 'Drenched in the Poisons' and (gyration-friendly) 'Crazy for Blowjobs'.  Easily one of the top three Precious Metal events I've attended.
