Precious Metal: Tiger Flowers + The Cast Pattern + All The Heathers Are Dying

Apologies to the bands...my pictures fucking sucked tonite, so only a few made the cut.  The Cast Pattern rocked the basement, and Tiger Flowers...well, let's just say it's a good thing they played last cuz they're a hard act to follow.  All The Heathers Are Dying, a metalcore band from Queens, opened.  Review soon.

Jane's Addiction + Nine Inch Nails + Street Sweeper Social Club @ Jones Beach 060709

A couple of things everyone should know before heading out to Nikon Theater at Jones Beach:

1) Commute time - from my place in Manhattan, it took 90 minutes to get to the venue, door-to-door...it was like a draining episode of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

2) Dress appropriately - I thought I would rock out with my sunblock out...dead wrong.  It is very windy, so pack your favorite longsleeve.  My boy actually ordered a coffee and went back for a hot chocolate.  It cost him $16.  Sucker.

3) Bring two for the road - believe it or not, but the entire place is dry.  Yeah, even for a metal show.  Luckily, you can drink (discreetly) on the LIRR and in the parking lot, so load up your favorite cooler.  We did.

4) Bring money - like, a lot of money.  My ticket was fucking $70.  Eight dollars for a slice of pizza.  Hoodies were $75.  No lie.  The place is a total ripoff, and shame on all the bands for selling $40 t-shirts during the recession (NYC inflation at its finest - the same shirts were $35 at the Camden show days earlier).

Overall, this show rocked in every sense of the word, the highlight being NIN's encore of 'Hurt'.  Next time it would be great if the booking agency considered MSG...the show would definitely sell out and be much more accessible to a wider audience.

Unless you have a car, live nearby or get free tickets, Jones Beach Theater is not worth the hassle.
