Precious Metal: Kruciation + Penetration + Bazooka Christ + Death Incarnate @ Lit Lounge 042709

Admittedly, I was so excited that I actually got to Lit Lounge ten minutes early for this one.  In my defense, Kruciation AND Penetration were both on tap and I was DJing for this week's Precious Metal party, so can you really blame me?  Newcomers Death Incarnate warmed it up with some 'lighter' thrash metal and the vocalist was the real highlight here, displaying a full range of metal stylings, from growls to power metal screams and everything in between.  Bazooka Christ dropped a heavy set of crossover metal that featured two vocalists.  Penetration were in from upstate ahead of a full European tour, so this was pretty much a trial run of what metalheads across the Atlantic were about to get a taste of.  They tore through several songs off their latest album, 'Victory or Death', including 'Iraq' and 'Prepare for War'. Kruciation is probably my favorite local artist, next to Animals Killing People.  Live, these boys come with everything and do not let up at all...I have some amazing pics to prove it.  Get that new album out chop-chop, fellas!  Total black/death goatworshipping sickness.

Upcoming Shows: I'm DJing on April 27th at Lit Lounge!

Precious Metal: Siezure Crypt + Landmine Marathon + Villains + Wizardry @ Lit Lounge 041309

Lots of underground buzz surrounding Landmine Marathon, and they totally lived up to the hype!  With unparalled ferocity, the band unleashed a solid half-hour of 'desert-baked' grind.  I've caught a number of bands fronted by women, including Fuck The Facts, Skarp and Estuary, and I've gotta say that Grace combines the best of all of them, with some serious energy and great chops, not to mention that she's cutie to boot.  Wizardry opened and were a pleasant surprise, mixing black metal theatrics with Iron Maiden-type songs...the crowd was loving them and I expect to hear more from these promising locals.  Siezure Crypt sounded (and looked) like the soundtrack of a WWF pay-per-view as performed by Agnostic Front.  Solid thrash/punk crossover.  After several failed attempts, I finally caught the Villains, the vile, ugly, hateful face of New York black metal.  Between songs, the lead singer threw beer on the crowd and attemped to win us over with good-natured and warm comments like '...we don't need friends, we want enemies', '...[we have] no blogs, no myspace', and '...I hope you all get AIDS'.  Nice.  They desecrated the basement with some of my favs, including 'Before the Spike', 'Torture is Too Kind', 'Headless Excruciator', 'Scumbag Preacher', 'Lifecode of Decadence', 'Dog Burner', 'Drenched in the Poisons' and (gyration-friendly) 'Crazy for Blowjobs'.  Easily one of the top three Precious Metal events I've attended.
